The Restack is a Bengaluru-based proptech and fintech platform that allows retail investors to participate in real estate debt investments — secured non-convertible debentures (NCDs) backed by land, plots, and apartments — alongside fractional ownership of Grade A commercial properties. With investments starting at INR 10 lakhs and returns of up to 16% per annum across a deal portfolio ranging from ₹14 crore to ₹625 crore, The Restack brings institutional-grade real estate access to individual investors. The founder approached us at the idea stage, before any technology existed. We helped them navigate everything from brand identity to the complex compliance and financial infrastructure that a regulated investment platform requires.

Technology Advisory for a Non-Tech Founder
The Restack’s founder came to us with a clear business vision but without a technology background. One of the most valuable things we did was act as a technology advisor through the early stages — helping evaluate the full landscape of options for KYC verification, payment infrastructure, document signing, and escrow management at a time when many of these capabilities in India were nascent or untested at the required scale. We researched the available providers, assessed their suitability for a regulated investment product, and helped the founder make informed decisions before a line of code was written. This is a role we take seriously: non-tech founders building complex products in new spaces often need a trusted technology partner who will think through the problem with them, not just execute a brief.

Brand Identity & Marketing Website
We designed The Restack’s logo and brand identity from the ground up, establishing a visual language appropriate for a regulated financial product aimed at sophisticated retail investors — requiring trust and clarity in equal measure. The brand design informed the marketing website, which we built to explain the investment model clearly, establish credibility with first-time visitors, and guide prospective investors toward the platform.

Investment Platform & Deal Pages
The core of the product is an investment platform where registered investors can browse active deals, review the details of each offering, and participate. We built the listing and deal detail pages that surface the specifics of each NCD or fractional ownership opportunity — asset details, returns, timelines, security structure, and documentation. The platform needed to convey the rigour of a financial product while remaining accessible to investors who may be encountering this asset class for the first time.

KYC & Document Verification
Regulatory compliance required every investor to complete a Know Your Customer verification before participating in any deal. We evaluated the available KYC and document verification providers, selected the most suitable for The Restack’s requirements, and built the integration into the platform onboarding flow. The result is a fully digital KYC process — from identity verification to document submission — that meets the compliance requirements of a RERA-registered investment platform without creating unnecessary friction for investors.

Large-Payment Infrastructure & Escrow
Handling real estate investment amounts — starting at INR 10 lakhs per investor — through a digital platform required a payment infrastructure that did not exist as an off-the-shelf solution at the time. We researched the available payment gateways and banking APIs, identifying providers capable of handling large NEFT and RTGS transfers through virtual bank accounts, allowing individual investor payments to be tracked and attributed accurately. Funds are held in escrow until the investment contracts are executed — a critical requirement for a regulated product — and we built the payment and escrow flow with this constraint at its centre.

eSign & Contract Execution
Every investment on the platform requires a legally executed contract between The Restack and the investor. We evaluated and integrated an eSign solution suitable for this type of financial instrument, building it into the deal participation flow so that contract execution is part of the same digital journey as KYC verification and payment. This closed the loop on a fully digital investment process — from account creation to signed contract — without requiring any offline steps.

A Platform Built to Last
The Restack team has been running the platform with minimal maintenance since it was handed over — a fact we are proud of. Building in a space where third-party support for several components was still maturing at the time of development meant that many of our architectural decisions had to account for uncertainty. The durability of the platform under those conditions is a reflection of how we approach system design: we build for the long run, not the demo. For an early-stage startup operating with a lean team, a platform that does not require constant attention is not a nice-to-have — it is a commercial necessity.
